Miss Basia Smith

It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Miss Basia Smith.

Basia was a great supporter of the work we are doing at Sandfields. she had a huge interest and passion for the Sandfields pumping station and has been instrumental in the past providing documents and assistance to push for the preservation of the building and engine. it was her letter to the MP in 2012 that triggered the start of the campaign to save Sandfields Pumping Station. We got to know and love her dearly. We feel that we have lost a close friend.

Last year we made her a life member of the trust, so we now hope that we can continue with our campaign to preserve Sandfields Pumping Station, so that it can stand proudly in the landscape as a testament to her life.

Her funeral will take place on Wednesday 28th February at 2:30pm at the Lichfield Crematorium, Fradley.
